We’re joining forces with WorldSkills members from around the world to make our international training programmes available to colleges and training providers throughout the UK.

In a year-long programme, we will host a series of Virtual International Pressure Tests, which will include best practice exchanges and training events in skills including Cyber Security, Chemical Laboratory Technician and IT Network Systems Administrator. As part of the programme, Squad UK members who are in training for WorldSkills Shanghai, which takes place from 12 – 17 October 2022, will take part in virtual training sessions and assessments against their peers from countries including Korea, China, Singapore, Russia and Brazil.

The first training event for Squad UK is an online virtual pressure test in Mechanical Engineering CAD against students from France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal on 27-28 March. This session will be exclusively available to colleges in our Centre of Excellence and Innovation Network.

Parisa Shirazi, Head of Skills Development and International Competitions, WorldSkills UK said:

“This exciting programme is the latest in our commitment to share global best practice in skills development.

“Like all countries participating in WorldSkills Shanghai, we have had to dramatically alter our preparations but in doing so we have been able to create opportunities to open up our training and development programmes to equip teachers and trainers with the knowledge to embed world-class standards into the mainstream curriculum, further supporting the work of our Centre of Excellence and Innovation Network.

“This will enable thousands of young people to develop the high-quality skills that employers are looking for and we will work with them to use their success stories to inspire more and more young people to take up apprenticeships and technical career routes.”

The best practice exchanges, which will take place in over 30 different skills and feature UK and international experts, will be available to all colleges and training providers. These sessions will include discussions on training approaches and emerging sector trends within each skill area to support educators and trainers to embed world-class standards into their own curriculum.
