Overview

Plumbing is an essential trade that specialises in the installation and maintenance of systems used for hot and cold water, sanitation, rainwater, heating, gas, oil, solid fuel, LPG, solar thermal hot water, and heat pumps.  Plumbers work in a diverse range of locations from occupied customers’ homes to new build housing and commercial buildings. They are relied on for the installation of appliances in bathrooms and kitchens, as well as heating installations and piping in buildings that are fitted to industry and regulated standards.

Entry criteria

  • This is an individual competition
  • Competitors must be any student who is working towards a Plumbing Level two or three qualification (basic pipework skills training must have been completed) or anyone in employment in the UK with the relevant qualification
  • Competitors must be at least 16 years of age.
  • There is no limit to the number of competitors permitted to enter this competition per organisation
  • The maximum number of competitors that could progress from the entry stage to the qualifying heats from one (local) organisation is three.

How it works

Our competitions are open to all so please register between 27 February – 24 March 2023

The first stage of competition is a remote or online test (where applicable)

Northern Ireland – NWRC 16th May

Scotland – Glasgow Clyde 16th June

Wales- TBC

England – Harrow College –13th June

England – JTL Birmingham 24th May

England – Hartlepool 22nd June

Scores are quality assured and Finalists are announced

Competitors prepare and practise in readiness for the National Finals

The Finalists come together to compete in the National Finals

Competitors who are age eligible and have achieved the benchmark score will be invited to opt into Squad UK during December 2024 for the WorldSkills 2026 Cycle, subject to the skill progressing to the international competition cycle.
