WorldSkills UK is proud to highlight that 19 former competitors are continuing their journey by stepping into leadership roles as Assistant Training Managers (ATMs).
Working alongside their skill-specific Training Managers, these talented individuals are helping to train and inspire the next generation of UK competitors, sharing their expertise and first-hand experience of showcasing their skills on the WorldSkills stage.
This year, 31 ATMs in total are supporting WorldSkills UK’s training programmes, ensuring competitors receive world-class preparation for international competitions. The involvement of former competitors brings unique insight and inspiration, demonstrating the lasting impact of WorldSkills UK on careers and skills development.
The ATMs will play a key role in preparing the UK’s top students and apprentices for the next WorldSkills Competition, known as the ‘Skills Olympics’, which will be held in Shanghai from 22–27 September 2026. Around 65 young people are part of WorldSkills UK’s Squad UK and have been in the intensive training programme since March 2024. They will continue to train with the ATMs, aiming to secure a place on the UK team for Shanghai.
WorldSkills UK is proud to see former competitors continue to contribute to the programme, helping to promote skills excellence across the UK and inspiring future talent to reach their full potential on the global stage.
