We are continuing to benchmark our competitors against their international counterparts through our successful series of virtual international pressure tests. These have been initiated by WorldSkills UK drawing in counterparts from Europe, Asia the Far East and the Caribbean.

The 2022 series of events launched on 14 March with a two-day event for plastering involving Chinese Taipei, Japan; South Korea; Bangladesh and Jamaica.

This is followed by the plumbing international pressure test on 22-23 March against: Chinese Taipei; Lichtenstein and Switzerland.

An international pressure test in refrigeration is also scheduled for March/April (date and nations to be confirmed).

Through international best practice exchanges which run alongside the pressure tests our training managers have been able to continue building their professional peer networks. Through these, the latest insights and observations and technical information are shared, continually driving up international standards across the world, despite Covid-19 limitations on face-to-face events.

These virtual events play an important role in creating a continuous improvement cycle for both our competitors and our training managers. They show how we’ve combined resourcefulness and flexibility to keep UK competitors and training managers at the leading edge of skills development and a serious contender on the WorldSkills stage.
