Dan competed as part of Team UK at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 in 3D Digital Game Art, after winning gold at the 2015 WorldSkills UK National Finals and EuroSkills Gothenburg 2016. This is the first time the discipline has been represented as a skill on the Trust.

The WorldSkills Champions Trust is a volunteer group of past Competitors who are the voice of young people in the WorldSkills movement. The group works to raise levels of engagement among WorldSkills Champions and promote active involvement in WorldSkills projects, initiatives and activities. Dan will be joining representatives from Austria, Brazil, Barbados, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Morocco, New Zealand and Zambia.

Over the next two years, the team will work together to connect with Champions, serve as ambassadors for WorldSkills, and increase the profile of the Champions Trust within the WorldSkills movement.

Reacting to his appointment, Dan said:

“I am so excited, humbled and honoured to represent our country and continent. I’m most looking forward to encouraging greater mental wellbeing support for competitors and training managers involved in WorldSkills Competitions. People who are trying to become or train the best in the world in their skill are under an extraordinary amount of stress and it’s important we are aware of this.

I owe everything to WorldSkills UK Competitions. I wouldn't have my dream job with Codemasters without them, and I’m lucky that they too understand how important mental wellbeing is to career success. I am now in a very privileged position as part of the WorldSkills Champions Trust to be able to discuss the importance of mental strength and hopefully inspire others around the world to seek support when needed.
