This module starts with a general introduction to braking systems, which covers foot brake, hand brake and emergency brake functions. You will move on to more focused learning on working with drum and disc brakes, as well as brake hoses and lines. You will learn about the components, operation and function of each, as well as how brake hoses are inspected.
The module takes around 90 minutes to complete. You will be continually tested as you work your way through, with a series of quizzes and other activities. Once you have completed all sections successfully, you will be awarded a downloadable WorldSkills UK certificate.
In this module, you will learn to:
explain how light vehicle braking systems work
understand the construction and operation of drum brakes
understand the construction and operation of disc brakes
understand some aspects of the hydraulic braking system.
