The Hospitality and Catering Team at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) in Northern Ireland has been announced as the winner of the WorldSkills Hero Award at the Tes FE Awards 2021.

The award recognises the dedicated professionals who go the extra mile to support those who take part in WorldSkills UK’s programmes.

Ben Blackledge, Deputy Chief Executive, WorldSkills UK said:  “On behalf of everyone at WorldSkills UK, I want to congratulate the Hospitality and Catering Team at SERC on this fantastic achievement.

“This is brilliant recognition of how SERC is using our competition-based training programme to drive quality and provide all students with the opportunity to develop and be celebrated for their skills.

“I would also like to pay special thanks to the runners up in the WorldSkills Hero Award.  The breadth of entries this year demonstrated the dedication and passion of FE providers to ensure that their students were still able to benefit from our programmes, despite the challenges of the pandemic, and we look forward to continuing working with the sector as we support a skills-led recovery to rebuild the UK economy.”
