Callum Bonner - Team UK Competitor

Callum is joining Team UK at WorldSkills Kazan 2019, competing in Painting and Decorating. Alongside his competition training, he works as an apprentice for Clackmannanshire Council, Scotland.

Callum’s day-to-day job sees him working for his local council, taking care of tenants’ housing, schools and other public buildings. But when he’s not at work he’s training hard with WorldSkills UK as a member of the prestigious Team UK.

“At school I did better at woodwork and technical drawing,” explains Callum. “So I realised I needed to follow a practical path. I applied for loads of apprenticeships and was eventually offered one from Clackmannanshire Council doing my studies at Forth Valley College.”

Alongside his day job and studies, Callum joined Team UK at EuroSkills Budapest in September 2018 and is currently getting ready to represent his country on a global stage.

“EuroSkills was one of the hardest weeks of my life but I loved every minute of it,” he says. “I didn’t medal but I have learned so much and I am now back in training to represent the UK in Painting and Decorating at WorldSkills Kazan 2019.”
