Overview

Creative Media Makeup artists use the human body as a canvas to create a desired character or appearance through the skilful use and application of makeup and prosthetics under strict time constraints.  They need to have a range of common makeup artistry skills including special effects and theatrical as well as high fashion and spend hours developing their model into the desired finished product.

The competition focuses on the role and tasks of a Creative Media Makeup Artist, working on a given theme over a number of hours using the specialist skillset needed for the creative industry sector.

Entry criteria

  • There is no limit to the number of entries per organisation but organisations are strongly encouraged to use the pre-competition activity to introduce their competitors to (and prepare them for) competition work and to select their best representatives.
  • This is an individual competition.
  • Entries will be accepted from competitors who must be familiar with the core competencies below and be currently studying for/achieved an appropriate Level 2/3 Makeup qualification within the last two years. and/or are enrolled on a Makeup programme of study working towards Level 3 or Level 4.
  • Competitors must be familiar with the core competencies below

How it works

Our competitions are open to all so please register between 27 February – 24 March 2023

The first stage of competition is a remote or online test (where applicable)

Competitors take part in competitions in venues across the UK or online

Scores are quality assured and Finalists are announced

Competitors prepare and practise in readiness for the National Finals

The Finalists come together to compete in the National Finals
