Automotive Refinishing technicians assess and repair vehicle paint work after accident damage. They prepare panels, match colours and apply paint to the vehicle, restoring it to factory finish using advanced processes and specialist techniques.
The competition has been designed to assess the skills, knowledge and abilities of refinishing technicians against current industry standards and working practices.
In addition competitors will be expected to show their competence, skill and knowledge using various refinishing related equipment, techniques and materials e.g. abrasives and preparation materials, paint mixing and matching equipment, spray guns and air fed masks, heat lamps, spray booths, masking products, paint products, polishing and finishing equipment and other related products. Some training on equipment will be provided during the familiarisation day at the finals.
