Automotive Body Repair Technicians specialise in repairing or replacing accident damaged panels an all types of vehicles. They are skilful in using a variety of specialised tools and equipment to repair damage and return the vehicle to a safe and as new condition.
Body repair technicians work with a range of different metals and plastics found within modern motor vehicles and must be aware of the processes to work with these. They also take account of the effect their repair may have on many vehicle systems such as parking assist, lane keeping and vehicle security as well as many of the more advanced control systems being introduced.
In addition competitors will be expected to show their competence, skill and knowledge using various tools, equipment and materials associated with accident repairs e.g. body realignment measuring systems and jigs, welding equipment, specialist air and hand tools commonly used in the repair of vehicle bodywork, filler products and smart repair equipment as well as compliance with all Health & Safety legislation. Some training on equipment will be provided during the familiarisation day at the UK national finals.
