Our work with WorldSkills

WorldSkills is the global hub for skills excellence and development.  Launched in 1950, the organisation now represents more than 72 member countries and regions.

WorldSkills UK is responsible for the UK’s membership within WorldSkills and manages the entry into the WorldSkills competition which takes place every two years.

As part of WorldSkills, the UK is able to use the knowledge gained from competing internationally to inform apprenticeship frameworks and training programmes in this country.  This enables more young people to be equipped with the right skills to help UK business better compete globally.

At WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 the UK retained its Gold Medal in Beauty Therapy and remained in the Top 10 through Team UK’s excellent performance.

The next WorldSkills competition will be held in Kazan from 29 August to 3 September 2019. The Competition will see over 1200 competitors compete in 50 skills competitions.
