Who is this competition for?
There are three competitions for individuals to enter:
What does the competition prepare you for?
This competition prepares you for a career as a chef. Chefs are responsible for the preparation and cooking of food, using a variety of cooking techniques. In large kitchens they are part of a team and take responsibility for one particular area such as bread and pastries, or vegetables.
What does the competition cover?
This competition provides an opportunity for trainee chefs to demonstrate their cooking skills. Competitors will be expected to prepare a range of dishes using specific ingredients set out in the competition brief whilst also using their creative flair. The competition is judged against the expectations of the industry and includes:
What happens if I win?
If they reach the minimum standard, the highest scorers across regional heats will go through to
the UK Final. The winners of the UK Final will be invited to a high profile awards event.
Subject to eligibility, outstanding national winners may be invited to compete for a place in
a future UK team for the WorldSkills and/or EuroSkills competitions.

This competition is organised by UK Skills within a framework for promotion and development led
by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism.
