Colleges Northern Ireland is the sectoral body for Further Education (FE) Colleges in Northern Ireland (NI). There are 56 NI competitors taking part in this year’s Skills Show. ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board)

The Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills

The Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills (ECMS) is a new employer-led training facility for the Black Country, designed to enhance productivity in the region’s high value manufacturing sector. Welbeck - The Defence Sixth Form College

Welbeck College is a boarding sixth form for young people looking to enter the armed forces or civil service as engineers or technical officers and civilians. Students are required to study Maths and Physics A levels as well as two additional technical subjects. All of our students are full time boarders, tuition is paid for by the Ministry of Defence and boarding fees are means tested on household income. On completing their A levels our students will move on to study technical or engineering degrees at one of 11 partner universities and will receive £4000 per year whilst they are at university. Once they graduate they will go to Initial Officer Training with their sponsoring service or start on the MOD Graduate programme.

National Apprenticeship Service

The National Apprenticeship Service supports the delivery of apprenticeships and traineeships in England. It offers free impartial advice and support to employers, learners and parents. Young people can ‘get in and go far’ with an apprenticeship at some of Britain’s biggest and brightest companies. They can gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed, in some cases up to degree level, while working and earning. There is a huge variety of apprenticeships available across England such as BBC, ASOS, ITV, Airbus and IBM, meaning young people can find the apprenticeship that’s right for them.

Whether you’re looking to improve your skills to get a job or wanting to get back into learning, learndirect can help you on the journey to a brighter future! If you’re between 16 and 24 years old our Your Time training programme can help you work towards a Traineeship, an Apprenticeship, employment or back into education – and it can be completed as quickly as six weeks! A Young Person’s Coach will support you throughout, working with you to create a personalised learning plan covering skills such as maths, English and valuable work place skills to help you achieve your goals.

Stoke on Trent College

Stoke on Trent College is the largest provider of further education in Staffordshire. Around 13,000 students study with us either on full or part-time study programmes, Apprenticeships, professional qualifications or university-level courses, annually. We also help thousands of local people to gain the basic skills needed for work, be it English and maths, employability skills or specific work-related qualifications. Our students have successfully competed in regional, national and Worldskills competitions over the years. With many students winning medals, we are confident that our provision sets the benchmark for excellence and prepares students for the competitive world of work.

West Midlands Combined Authority Regional Youth Employment Initiative projects

Across the West Midlands Combined Authority area we are in the unique position to draw together skills and expertise through running three Youth Employment Initiatives which have funding from the European Social Fund, Big Lottery Fund and other funders. The three projects running across the region are collectively bringing in over £100 million to help 16 to 29 year olds who are not engaged in employment, education or training. The projects area called Black Country Impact, Birmingham and Solihull Youth Promise Plus, and Ambition Coventry, and they ultimately support young people to improve their employability and secure jobs.
