The session will explore the many and varied types of people who work within STEM organisations, using the “My Skills My Life” (formerly “People Like Me”) approach to considering careers, showing that there are a wide range of excellent roles to be had in STEM for all sorts of people, not just stereotypical engineer types!
We will focus our talk on our Engineering provision at NWSLC. This will incorporate a ‘day in the life’ of an apprentice. This will follow the apprentice in their workplace and includes discussion with the employer. We will also include talks from alumni students, giving an overview of how they got to where they are, where they are going and what they enjoy doing. Also included in our Spotlight Talk will be an introduction to our MTI campus, which is home to our specialist automotive courses. Finally, we will conclude our session with a panel Q&A with our business engagement team, an employer and an apprentice.
