Spotlight on Careers 2023

These brand-new sessions focus on Engineering and manufacturing; creative and design; legal finance and accounting, and digital data careers.

Each session is divided into four short segments covering an industry overview with experts outline key skills and myth busting, hearing from apprentice role models about their roles and inspiration, a short industry task that links careers to the curriculum and STEM where possible, wrapping up with the technical pathways in to the industry.

Explore editing, producing, designing and storyboarding as we unpack creative and design careers with the British Film Institute (BFI). You’ll hear from role models and take part in a short storyboarding task, the first step towards creating a film. We hear from Tim Weiss at Screen Skills the film recruitment specialist about the variety of pathways into a creative and design career including technical education such as T Levels and apprenticeships, as well as why a creative and design career is action-packed.

Highlighting the relevance of data in fashion, streaming, online shopping and coding, this episode will give insight into the inspiration and decision-making of data and IT careers. With Amazon and BCS we explore data careers, what they involve and break down the details to demonstrate how to get into this essential and growing field.
