Who is this competition for?

This competition is offered at advanced standard, which is equivalent to Level 3 and/or 2-7 years’ experience/training.

Competitors should be over the age of 16 and currently training to be reflexologists.

What does the competition prepare you for?

The competition places you within the role of the reflexologist. Reflexologists are practitioners in complementary medicine who apply specific pressure to reflex points on their clients' hands and feet. These points are said to be joined to the major organs by 'energy pathways'. The aim is to encourage the body’s natural healing.  Reflexologists can work in a variety of environments, from hospices or hospitals to clients’ homes or complementary medicine clinics. It is also possible for a reflexologist to work as a therapist in a beauty environment such as a salon or health farm.

What does the competition cover?

This competition focuses on the role of the reflexologist. Competitors are expected:

  • to find out about their client’s health, lifestyle problems and detailed medical history in order to identify the most appropriate and effective reflexology techniques, and;
  • to demonstrate the use of pressure techniques using the thumbs and fingers on the reflex areas found in the feet and hands.

Stage 1: Regional heats will be held in May 2008 (dates coming soon!)
Stage 2: If they reach the minimum standard, regional winners will go through to the UK Final to be held in June 2008.

What happens if I win?

The winner of the UK Final competition will be invited to a high profile national awards event.
