Who is this competition for?
This competition is offered at advanced standard, which is equivalent to Level 3 and/or 2-7
years experience/training.
Competitors should be over the age of 16 and currently training to be aromatherapists.
What does the competition prepare you for?
This competition gives the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills as a trainee aromatherapist. Aromatherapists use a blend of essential aromatic oils that have been extracted or distilled from herbs, flowers, trees, spices or fruit, applying them in a number of ways including massage, baths and inhalations. These natural oils have unique healing properties that can either improve a client’s sense of well-being or treat specific medical conditions. The aromatherapist is likely to work in a quiet room where clients can lie comfortably on a couch. Some offer a service in clients’ homes. Many aromatherapists have gently music playing while they work to help clients relax.
What does the competition cover?
This competition offers an excellent opportunity to demonstrate a full aromatherapy treatment,
including consultation and aftercare practices. In the competition, competitors:
• begin with a consultation by taking a detailed medical history
• explore their client’s lifestyle further
• use the information gathered to select appropriate oils
• carry out the treatment programme
Competitors will be assessed for their listening skills, empathic approach, and specialist
skills.
Stage 1: Regional heats will be held in May 2008 (dates coming soon!)
Stage 2: If they reach the minimum standard, regional winners will go through to
the UK Final to be held in June 2008.
What happens if I win?
The winner of the UK Final will be invited to a high profile national awards event.
