Those entering should be over the age of 16 and currently training to be hairdressers.

What does the competition prepare you for?

Hairdressing is an exciting profession with many opportunities for talented and committed entrants. These competitions allow you to compete in the types of competition that represent hairdressing at its best.

Working in a salon can be hard work, with much of the day spent on your feet.  If you start as a new entrant a lot of your time will be spent welcoming customers, washing clients’ hair and keeping the salon tidy.  But as your experience grows you will be given more responsibility and may eventually be cutting it alongside professional hairdressers.  The best way to succeed in this industry is to demonstrate your commitment to hard work whilst being creative and having an eye for style.

What does the competition cover?

The competitions both offer the opportunity for competitors to showcase their creativity and technical skills within men’s and women’s hairdressing.

In these competitions the competitors must complete two tasks from start to finish during the allocated six hours. Competitors will be assessed on cut, colour and total look. The competitions apply many of the approaches that are used in international competitions.

Stage 1:
Regional heats will be held in May 2008 (dates coming soon!)
Stage 2: Following the regional heats, competitors who have achieved the highest marks across the UK will be invited to attend the UK Final Competition at the L’Oreal International Academy on 13 June 2008.
