Who is this competition for?

This competition is offered at Advanced/Higher levels, for those in education, training at the equivalent of level 3 or above, and/or the equivalent of 2 years’ experience of employment at these levels.

College Restaurant of the Year (Croty) is open to any college or university that awards nationally recogised qualifications within the catering and hospitality industry, and that has an in-house restaurant staffed by its current sutdents, which is open to the public.

What does the competition prepare you for?

This challenging competition gives you the chance to experience the skills required to work in a busy restaurant or hotel.

What does the competition cover?

This competition provides an excellent opportunity for trainee chefs and waiters to work together as a team showcasing their hospitality skills.

The chef will be expected to prepare dishes using specific ingredients set out in the competition brief whilst also using their creative flair. The waiter must demonstrate excellent customer service, organisational skills and methodical silver service skills. Both team members will be assessed on their technical and team-working capabilities.

What happens if I win?

UK winners will be invited to a high profile national awards event.

Subject to eligibility, outstanding national winners may be invited to compete for a place in a future UK WorldSkills and/or EuroSkills team.
