Who is this competition for?
This competition is for trainee confectioners with at least 2 years training, work experience and/or employment as confectioners.
What does the competition prepare you for?
The competition places you within the highly skilled world of the confectioner. Confectioners have expertise in making sweet dishes of all kinds, in particular cakes, pastries, yeast items, tarts, pies, desserts, chocolates and pralines, as well as making decorative pieces from chocolate, sugar and marzipan, nougatine and pastillage.
Confectioners work in a wide range of commercial establishments, institutions and services. There is a growing demand for handcrafted confectionery products.
What does the competition cover?
This competition is an excellent opportunity for trainee confectioners to demonstrate their skills. Competitors may be required to make a range of dishes including pastries, chocolates, tarts, pies and cakes, as well as making decorative pieces from chocolate, sugar and marzipan. Competitors will be judged against industry expectations on aspects such as timing, technique and finesse.
What happens if I win?
UK competition winners will be invited to a high profile awards event.
Subject to eligibility, outstanding national winners may be invited to compete for a place in
a future UK team for the WorldSkills Competition.
