About the competition - Media Make-up
Competitors will be expected to demonstrate their skills as make-up artists within dynamic media
environments. The competition tests creativity, technician skills, consultative and communication
skills.
The competition requires competitors to display one or more highly creative finished products
that demonstrate knowledge of current fashion trends, make-up and costume design. Competitors will
be required to:
- Interpret a theme
- Demonstrate product awareness
- Apply body art and paint
- Design and apply a costume

Entry Levels: Advanced and Higher

Competition Type: Live
Who can enter?
These competitions are intended for those training or working as make-up artists. There are two
levels of entry:
Advanced: training to be a make-up artist working towards a level 3 qualification.
Higher: for those working in industry as a qualified make-up artist with no more than three
years experience.
How many can enter?
Up to one competitor per level per organisation may enter.
Assessment criteria
- Quality of interpretation
- Precision
- Artistic ability
- Finished look
- Health, safety and hygiene
Competition structure
0Stage one: enter online between 7 January – 9 April 2009.
Stage two: competitors will be invited to compete in a heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats who meet the required standard
will be invited to compete at the UK final.
