About the competition - Beauty Therapy
At each level the competition focuses on the role and tasks of a beauty therapist. This includes
carrying out a range of treatments which reflects both current and traditional beauty therapy
treatments.
Competitors will be expected to demonstrate their skills in:
Intermediate: consultation, warm waxing, manicure and facial plus day make up.
Advanced: consultation, body faradic treatment, full body massage and facial galvanic
treatment.

Competition Type: Live
Who can enter?
These competitions are intended for those training or working as beauty therapists. There are three levels of entry:
Intermediate: training to be a beauty therapist working towards a level 2 qualification.
Advanced: training to be a beauty therapist working towards a level 3 qualification.
How many can enter?
Up to one competitor per level per organisation.
Assessment criteria
Competitors will be assessed for their performance in each of the tasks, plus their health, safety and hygiene practice.
In the Advanced and Higher competition, competitors will be expected to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge by responding to questions on each task.
Competition structure
Stage one: enter online between 7 January – 9 April 2009.
Stage two: competitors will be invited to compete in a heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats who meet the required standard
will be invited to compete at the UK final.
