About the competition - Afro-Caribbean Hairdressing
At each level the competition will comprise of two tasks that represent the role of an
Afro-Caribbean hairdresser. Each task will offer scope for creativity as well as technique and good
working practice. Live models will be used.

Who can enter?
This new competition is intended for those training to be hairdressers and working towards
relevant qualifications at either level 2 or level 3.
Intermediate: appropriate for those with up to four years of related experience and/or
training.
Advanced: appropriate for those with four –seven years of related experience and/or
training.
How many can enter?
Up to three competitors per salon or educational campus, per level.
Assessment criteria
- Cut
- Colour
- Finish
- Total look
- Compliance with instructions
- Good working practice
Competition structure
Stage one: enter online between 7 January – 9 April 2009.
Stage two: competitors will be invited to participate in a live heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required
standard will be invited to compete at the UK final.
