Who can enter?

This competition is for teams of up to eight young people aged 14 to 16 years of age, who are learning at school and college or just at college. Teams work to complete a challenge of their choice which benefits the local community.

Assessment criteria

Challenges take place over approximately six months. Groups, working with tutors at their local college, agree their challenge and then work together to meet this challenge. Past challenges have included bricklaying students regenerating the playground of a local primary school and business students acting as consultants to increase the turnover and profits of a floristry shop.

Competitors are expected to

  • create and justify their challenge
  • carry the challenge through
  • present their results and achievements
  • show what they have learnt and what they can do at a high profile awards ceremony.
