The competition takes place over two days and consists of programming a FESTO Robotino® and
constructing a robot to undertake a range of challenging tasks.

Who can enter?
Mobile Robotics is a competition for technicians working or studying in the engineering industry. The Mobile Robotics competition is based on the standards attained by trainees who have reached S/NVQ level 3 and are working towards an HND or a higher degree. The competition is open to both education and industry.
How many can enter?
Up to two teams of two competitors per organisation.
Technical knowledge
Competitors must be able to use the FESTO Robotino® mobile robot to:
- Solve practical operational problems
- Carry out mobile robot system design
- Assemble a mobile robot according to the manufacturer’s specifications
- Design a control program
- Connect a mobile robot to its control system
- Commission a mobile robot to carry out its correct function
- Interpret hard copy/electrical forms from manufacturer’s documents
UK Skills are prepared to loan the Robotino® to organisations on a long term basis providing the organisation guarantees to send competitors to the Mobile Robotics competition each year.

Competition structure
Stage one: enter online between 7 January – 9 April 2009.
Stage two: submit screening test per team.
Stage three: teams that meet the required standard will be invited to compete at the UK
final.
