About the competition - Automobile Technology
The automobile technology competition has been designed to reflect the work role of an
automotive technician and the standards that are expected within the industry.
The competitions consist of mainly practical work, although there is an element within the
practical tasks of reporting fault diagnosis either verbally or by completion of a simple report
form.
Entry Levels: Advanced
Entry Type: Individual competitors
Competition Type: Mixed
Who can enter?
The competition is intended for technicians working towards completing their S/NVQ level 3 in vehicle maintenance and repair.
How many can enter?
There are no restrictions on the number of competitors that can enter from any one organisation.
Assessment criteria
- Engine (petrol)
- Transmission
- Braking
- Steering and wheel alignment
- Electrical fault diagnosis
Competition structure
Stage one: enter online at
www.skillauto.co.uk
Stage two: complete an online test containing auto technology related questions.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors are invited to compete in a heat during
February/March 2009.
Stage four: highest scoring competitors from all heats are invited to the UK final.
