About the competition - Autobody Repair

Panel technicians have to understand a great deal about modern car construction and materials. With the development of new car technology, keeping up-to-date with changing repair processes and equipment has never been so critical. The competition is run to Automotive Technician Accreditation Standards (ATA).

The different assessments include damage alignment diagnosis, MIG welding to BSI Standards, spot welding to BSI Standards 1mm, rectification of panel damage and panel removal, and replacement procedures for both bolted and welded panels.

Entry Levels: Advanced

Entry Type: Individual competitors

Competition Type: Mixed

Who can enter?

The competition is intended for technicians with up to three years experience in training and/or working environment.

How many can enter?

There are no restrictions on the number of competitors that can enter from any one organisation.

  • Damage correction
  • Replacements
  • Panel, plastic repair
  • Electrical diagnosis

Competition structure

Stage one: enter online via www.skillauto.co.uk

Stage two: complete an online test containing body repair technology related questions.

Stage three: highest scoring competitors are invited to compete in a heat during February/March 2009.
 
Stage four: highest scoring competitors from all heats are invited to the UK final.
