Who is this competition for?

This competition is designed for young people and adults from 16 years of age who are studying a relevant programme of study at intermediate, advanced or higher levels. This competition is for individuals or groups of up to 4 competitors.

What does the competition prepare you for?

The competition places you within the role of the print journalist. Print journalists include reporters, sub-editors and feature writers who write news and feature articles for newspapers, magazines and periodicals.  Newspaper journalists work for local, regional or national newspapers, reporting on local or national events and subjects of topical interest. Magazine journalists work for business, professional, consumer or specialist consumer publications.  Most importantly journalists must have an interest in current affairs at all levels. In the current climate they must also be able to write, edit and lay out their own pages.

What does the competition cover?

The competition will be judged at two stages:
Stage one: competitors will submit their work for assessment
Stage two: the highest scoring competitors will be invited to exhibit at the Cultural and Creative Arts Exhibition in June 2008.

What happens if I win?

UK Gold winners will be invited to a high profile national awards event.
