About the competition - Performing Arts: Acting
The Performing Arts: Acting competition will provide you with an invaluable opportunity to test
your skills nationally against other students and share your work with others to promote excellence
at this level.
Competitors are required to prepare a three minute monologue to be performed, live in front
of an audience and judges. Your performance is expected to be at a level the theatre industry would
find acceptable enough to audition you for a professional casting.

Who can enter?
This competition is intended for those undertaking a relevant programme of study at level 3 (BTEC ND, S/NVQ, AS/A2 Performing Arts and/or Theatre Studies programmes).
How many can enter?
Up to three competitors per organisation.
Assessment criteria
- Performer audience relationship
- Storytelling
- Use of body and voice
- Interpretation of script
- Professional understanding
Competition structure
Stage one: enter online between 7 January – 9 April 2009.
Stage two: competitors compete in a regional heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard
will be invited to compete at the UK final.
