Who is this competition for?

This competition is designed for people who want to become milliners who are training full-time or part-time, at levels 3 or 4, or currently working alongside a milliner. It is assumed that competitors will have no more than 7 years relevant experience of millinery.

What does the competition prepare you for?

The competition places you within the job role of a milliner. As a hat designer the milliner has to capture trends in style, materials and colour and apply these to their designs. As a hat maker the milliner must transfer the designs into a finished product that meets commercial standards.

What does the competition cover?

The competitions will be judged at two stages:
Stage one: competitors will submit their work for assessment
Stage two: the highest scoring competitors will be invited to exhibit their work at the Cultural and Creative Arts Exhibition in June 2008.

What happens if I win?

UK Gold winners will be invited to a high profile national awards event.
