Who is this competition for?

This competition is designed for aspiring writers aged 16 years and over.  There is no upper age limit; however competitors should be undertaking a relevant programme to develop their skills.

What does the competition prepare you for?

The competition places you within the role of a creative writer. The creative writer needs strong literary skills to produce a variety of types of creative work, including novels, short stories, non-fiction, feature articles for newspapers and magazines, children's books, plays, poetry and material for radio, television and film.  Writers research, plan, draft and revise their work before submitting it to a publisher.  Writers normally work on a self-employed, freelance basis, by themselves, and from home.

What does the competition cover?

The competition will be judged at two stages:
Stage one: competitors will submit their work for assessment
Stage two: the highest scoring competitors will be invited to exhibit at the Cultural and Creative Arts Exhibition in June 2008.

What happens if I win?

UK Gold winners will be invited to a high profile national awards event.
