About the competition - Contemporary Dance
Competitors are invited to perform and choreograph dance in a contemporary style. There are
three contemporary dance categories: solo, duo and group. These competitions will complement your
training and preparation to become a dancer and will give you the opportunity to showcase your
creativity and technical ability in front of a live audience and judges.

Who can enter?
This competition is intended for those undertaking a relevant programme of study at level 3
(BTEC ND, S/NVQ, AS/A2 Dance programmes).
How many can enter?
Up to two competitors/duos/groups per category per organisation.
Assessment criteria
Competitors will be judged in relation to specific aspects of the dancer’s work role:
- Choreography
- Performance
- Technical Skills
- Creativity
What happens if I win?
Stage one: enter online between 7 January – 9 April 2009.
Stage two: competitors compete in a heat.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors across all heats that meet the required standard
will be invited to compete at the UK final.
