Who is this competition for?
There are 3 performance categories at intermediate or advanced level within this competition.
Intermediate:
- Solo choreography and Performance
- Group choreography and Performance
- Performance in a Duo/Group
Advanced:
- Solo Choreography and Performance
- Group Choreography and Performance
- Performance in a Duo/Group
Each of these categories is open to young people and adults from 16 years of age. There is
no upper age limit, but competitors should be undertaking a relevant programme of learning at level
2 or 3 to prepare them to work as contemporary dancers either immediately or after further
training.
The competition is open to either individuals or groups of competitors.
What does the competition prepare you for?
The competition is designed to place you inside the role of the contemporary dancer.
Contemporary dance is physically demanding and requires stamina and resilience. The contemporary
dancer must demonstrate interpretative and creative skills, in addition to the ability to perform
to a high standard on all occasions.
Many dancers are also choreographers.
What does the competition cover?
The competition will be in two stages:
Stage one: competitors will attend a regional heat
Stage two: the highest scoring competitors will be invited to compete at the UK
Final
What happens if I win?
UK Gold winners will be invited to a high profile national awards event.
