About the competition - Environmental Sciences
The competition is intended to raise skills and awareness in the science and engineering
disciplines required to solve complex socioeconomic issues such as climate change and the shortage
of essential resources including water and energy.
Competitors will be expected to analyse information and data provided in various formats, and
to provide a report, construction and presentation that include a scheme for small-scale energy
production.

Who can enter?
This competition is intended for those undertaking a relevant vocational or academic programme
of study.
Advanced: equivalent to two to seven years of training and/or experience of employment, or a
level 3 qualification.
How many can enter?
Up to five competitors per team, no more than three teams per organisation.

Competition structure
Stage one: enter online between 7 January – 9 April 2009.
Stage two: submit entries for judging.
Stage three: highest scoring competitors will be invited to compete at the UK final.
